Claire Elise Boucher (/bu:'SeI/ boo-SHAY born on March 17 the 17th of March, 1988) is professionally known as Grimes is a Canadian musician, singer, writer, and record producer. 2] 3] The variety of her earlier music is described as "lo lo R&B" as well as "futuristic dance-pop". The artist has incorporated elements from hip hop electronic, and rock. Her lyrics often touch on feminist and science fiction themes. Five studio albums have been published by her. Grimes was born in Vancouver in the early 1990s, before moving to Montreal in the year 2000. Grimes started releasing her music as a solo act from the mid 2000s. Two albums were released by Arbutus Records in 2010, Geidi Primes as well as Halfaxa in 2010. After joining 4AD, she rose in the charts through Visions the 3rd studio album. Visions contains the singles "Genesis" and "Oblivion" and won them an award called the Juno Award in Canada for Electronic Album of the year. The fourth album of her studio Art Angels was released in the year 2015. The album was praised by critics and a variety of magazines voted it to be the top album of the year. [6] Her fifth studio album Miss Anthropocene, was released in 2020. Grimes is an official judge of Alter Ego, a music contest. She also was part of the Cyberpunk 2077 2020 role-playing game.
