Her most well-known work is her role as Ashley Banks on the sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. At the age of four she began singing and gained a taste of fame when she begged her mother bring her to an audition for Sesame Street. In 1985, when she was 6 year old, she began her acting career as a regular on the PBS children's show Sesame Street. She appeared in numerous Broadway shows that were staged in New York City, including Fences (with James Earl Jones, later Billy Dee Williams) and Orfeo del Campo (off-Broadway). When she was seven, she was a contestant on Star Search and won twice getting a four-star score when she appeared for the second time.
